Psychosocial risk management and support

Protect your people. Strengthen your organisation

Psychosocial risks are present in every workplace. What matters is how they’re managed. Geneva Wellbeing partners with organisations to identify psychosocial hazards, and assess and manage risks, which helps you to prevent psychological harm, improve performance and productivity, and build safer, healthier and more sustainable workplaces.

A strong psychosocial risk assessment helps you identify hidden stressors, support employee mental health and meet evolving legal requirements.
Whether you’re responding to increased mental health concerns, high turnover or legislative requirements, we offer evidence-based support to help you build psychosocial safety with confidence.

What are psychosocial hazards?

Psychosocial hazards are aspects of work design, management and organisational culture that can negatively affect an employee’s mental health and wellbeing.

Common psychosocial hazards at work include:

  • High job demands or unrealistic workloads
  • Low job control
  • Poor support from leaders or peers
  • Lack of role clarity
  • Job insecurity
  • Workplace conflict, bullying or discrimination
  • Exposure to traumatic events or emotional labour
  • Poor change management or organisational uncertainty

Unmanaged, these hazards can create stress, and can cause psychological or physical harm including anxiety, depression, burnout, musculoskeletal injuries, and more.

Why does psychosocial risk management matter?

Under New Zealand’s Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, organisations have a legal duty to manage all risks to health and safety—including psychosocial risks.

But more than that, protecting your people’s mental wellbeing is simply the right thing to do. A preventive and proactive approach to psychosocial risks creates:

  • A safer, more inclusive culture
  • Higher engagement and retention
  • Stronger team relationships
  • Improved resilience and adaptability
  • A reputation as an employer of choice

Proactive psychosocial risk assessment isn’t just compliance—it’s a smart investment in workplace wellbeing, culture and long-term success.
