It is important to manage pain and discomfort early, before it develops into more serious injuries or long absences from work. Our early injury intervention service supports employees who are experiencing pain or discomfort from work-related tasks, so they can recover quickly and safely stay at work.
This service sits within our wider workplace wellbeing programme and can help reduce lost time, prevent long-term claims, and support a healthy, productive team.
Early intervention is about acting fast when an employee first reports pain or discomfort. It might be shoulder strain from repetitive lifting, back pain from poor posture, or wrist discomfort from computer work. By providing assessment and treatment early, we help prevent minor problems becoming bigger issues.
Early injury intervention focuses on preventing minor work-related pain from escalating. Fast, targeted support helps employees recover quickly, reducing future risks and supporting safer, healthier workplaces.
Our early injury intervention programme is tailored to each employee and workplace. It may include:
A full assessment of the pain or discomfort, the tasks causing it, and the employee’s functional ability
Practical recommendations to modify tasks or workstations
Education and coaching on safe work practices, posture and injury prevention
Treatment such as physiotherapy, exercise programmes or pain management strategies
A plan to keep the employee working safely while they recover
Coordination with the employer and ACC if needed
Early injury intervention is for employees experiencing early signs of pain, strain or discomfort at work, whether it’s due to manual handling, repetitive movements, awkward postures or desk-based work.
Employers can refer staff directly to Geneva Wellbeing for early intervention support. If the discomfort is linked to a workplace injury covered by ACC, the service may be fully funded. This service supports staff with common workplace discomforts like back pain, repetitive strain and posture-related issues. Early intervention ensures small problems don’t become major injuries.
Address pain and discomfort early and protect your people and organisation from long-term impact. Talk to Geneva Wellbeing about how our early injury intervention service can support your workplace today.
