Supporting safe and gradual return to work after injury: Fully funded by ACC

Returning to work after an injury can be a challenging process — both physically and mentally. At Geneva Wellbeing, our Stay at Work service helps you recover while remaining in your job, with a clear, tailored plan that supports your health, your role and your employer’s needs. Geneva Wellbeing is an approved provider of the ACC Stay at Work programme.

This ACC-funded service supports both employees and employers through a collaborative, safe and gradual return-to-work process.

What is the Stay at Work service?

Stay at Work is an ACC-funded vocational rehabilitation service designed to help you return to your existing job in a way that’s safe and sustainable.  It focuses on keeping you connected to the workforce while you recover, reducing long-term absence and improving rehabilitation outcomes.

Our team works closely with both you and your employer to develop a personalised return-to-work plan based on your medical condition, functional capacity and work duties. This tailored plan is part of the Stay at Work approach to recovery through ACC

How Geneva Wellbeing supports you

  • Individualised return-to-work plans tailored to your recovery and job requirements

  • Functional assessments to understand what work you can safely perform

  • Workplace assessments to identify modifications or support needed

  • Graduated return schedules where you slowly increase work hours and duties as your recovery allows

  • Liaison with healthcare providers and employers to ensure everyone is on the same page

  • Monitoring and support to adjust the plan as your recovery progresses

  • Guidance throughout the Stay at Work ACC programme process

How it works

  1. Referral from ACC. Your ACC case manager refers you to Geneva Wellbeing to begin the Stay at Work programme process.
  2. Initial assessment. We assess your current functional ability and workplace demands to understand what you can safely do.
  3. Plan development. We create a phased return-to-work plan, outlining duties, hours, supports and timelines. As part of the Stay at Work programme, this phased approach is aligned with ACC guidelines.
  4. Employer collaboration. We work directly with your employer to sort out suitable duties and any required workplace modifications.
  5. Ongoing support. We check in regularly to ensure the plan is working and update it as you recover.
