Trauma support services

Compassionate, evidence-based support to help individuals and family/whānau heal and recover from trauma.

Traumatic experiences can have a deep and lasting impact on a person’s mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Whether trauma is the result of a single event or ongoing exposure, our trauma support services are here to help you or your loved ones find strength, stability and a pathway forward.

Our long-term trauma therapy providers understand that healing happens at your own pace. They create a safe space where you can explore difficult experiences without judgement or pressure.

What is trauma?

Trauma can result from a wide range of experiences, including accidents, violence, abuse, grief, medical events or witnessing distressing situations. Trauma responses are unique to each person and may include:

  • anxiety, panic, or hypervigilance
  • nightmares or flashbacks
  • emotional numbness or detachment
  • mood swings, anger or withdrawal
  • difficulty trusting others or feeling safe
  • physical symptoms such as fatigue, headaches or tension.

If trauma is affecting your daily life, relationships or ability to feel safe, support from a trained professional can help you navigate the path to recovery.

How we help

Our trauma support services are person-centred, culturally safe and based on the latest clinical evidence. We work alongside you to:

  • Understand and process the trauma in a safe and supported way
  • Build coping strategies to manage triggers and emotional distress
  • Reconnect with strengths, relationships and life goals
  • Support family/whānau and support networks in the healing journey

We offer both short-term support for recent trauma and long-term therapy for complex or historical trauma. Through specialised long-term trauma therapy techniques, we help you reclaim your sense of safety and control, empowering you to move forward with confidence and resilience.

We tailor every trauma support plan to the individual, drawing from a wide range of therapeutic approaches, including:

  • Narrative therapy
  • Somatic and body-based approaches
  • Whānau-inclusive models of care.

We recognise that trauma affects everyone differently, which is why our culturally responsive approach honours your unique background, values and healing traditions.
