At Kowhai Physio we care about you.
We are here to assist you in your recovery every step of the way and help you to achieve your goals.
Our therapists have post-graduate training in Manual Therapy, Spinal Manipulation, Sports Rehabilitation, Pelvic Health, Pilates and Acupuncture.
Our Team of Physiotherapists work closely with Allied Health Professionals including Doctors, Sports Medicine Physicians, Orthopaedic Specialists and Surgeons where necessary to facilitate your care.
We are all locals, who live and play in the Warkworth/Matakana Coast area. Kowhai Physio has been supporting the local community for over 20 years. Over many years, our Physios have been involved in Mahurangi College Sport, a variety of local Club sports, North Harbour representative teams, and supporting our local athletes to National competitions.

Service costs
Our Hand Therapists specialise in diagnosing and managing all upper limb injuries and conditions. Our Hand Therapists offer a wealth of knowledge and experience and have post-graduate qualifications in Hand Therapy. They work closely with our team of Physiotherapists, Doctors, Orthopaedic Specialists, Plastic Surgeons and Allied Health Professionals.
Hand Therapist often do the post-surgical management for elbow/wrist/thumb and hand surgeries. This may include acute management such as wound dressing changes, scar management, putting on casts and making splints.

Pelvic health physiotherapists are specially trained to assess and treat a wide range of pelvic floor problems in both men and women.
The following pelvic dysfunctions can be treated by your pelvic health physiotherapist:
Your pelvic heath appointment will include a comprehensive history and pelvic floor assessment with an internal examination with patient consent to accurately ascertain your needs. You will then receive an individual treatment and education programme, as well as a follow-up review of your pelvic health progress.
Pelvic Health 1:1 Pilates sessions are also available.
You don’t need a doctor’s referral, and we can refer you directly to a specialist, if required.

Join our physio Hannah Holloway for mat Pilates. Hannah has trained with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and has taught mat based Pilates in the area over the past eight years.
Hannah has knowledge of injury prevention, pelvic health, and rehabilitation, which she integrates into her fun sessions. Hannah’s practice focuses on healing and strength through movement, incorporating postural awareness and pelvic strengthening.
Kowhai Physiotherapy offers individual Pilates assessments, one-on-one sessions, and small group classes.

Do you have knee or hip osteoarthritis? Are you awaiting a joint replacement, or have you recently had joint replacement surgery, or are you an older adult recovering from a lower limb fracture?
No, you can book with us directly. Depending on your circumstances we may ask your surgeon or GP for clearance prior to commence participating.
How do I book in?
Patients are seen for an individual assessment at Kowhai Physio Clinic before commencing (cost $80) or can come directly through to class if you’ve had your immediate post-op physio at our clinic.
When and where are the classes held?
$350 for 12 classes over 6 weeks – $25 per class
Cost may be covered by your Health Insurance (depending on your insurance coverage)
Who can participate?
Suitable from 4-6 weeks after knee replacement and 12 weeks post-op hip replacement; or even years after surgery, if you are still having pain, joint stiffness, or functional difficulties. Suitable for any age, medical condition, and fitness level.
Our staff are well-versed in phone and video-based telehealth consulting. Other than hands-on therapy, our ‘injury diagnosis and treatment’ process is exactly the same.
You may prefer to choose this type of consult if you have concerns about sickness, or if you live rurally or remotely.
Accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans can be established via Telehealth. We will email your exercise programmes to you. We are also able to order x-rays and ultrasound scans, refer to Specialists/ Surgeons, and provide contactless delivery of braces, splints and other equipment that can be funded through ACC.
We are Southern Cross Easy-Claim partner. Easy-Claim partners provide a convenient way for Southern Cross members to claim for eligible day-to-day healthcare services at the time of purchase.
Just show your Member card (it’s on the app) or mention your number and we’ll do the rest. If your plan covers the product or service, they’ll reimburse the provider directly and you’ll only pay any remaining contribution you’re responsible for.
Southern Cross plans which cover physio treatment under Easy Claim are:
Easy claim provides 75% reimbursement of treatment costs, up to a maximum of $250 per year, per person.
